Clinical Study on Monteggia Lesion in Adult

Abstract

|
10 Monteggia Lesions in adult were Treated for about 5 years from 1973 to 1977 at Seoul Red Cross Hospital.
Closed reduction of the dislocated Radial Head was adequate in 8 patients of these cases. 6 cases belong to the type 1F of Bado´s classification of Monteggia Lesion. In 6 patients who had an open fracture of the Ulna associated with severe soft tissue damage- or a fracture of Olecranon, range of motion of the affected elbow were listed as poor. Of the 4 patients on whom open reduction and internal fixation with compression plate only .were done, only 3 patients gained satisfactory result. On follow-up(average 11.8 months), pain free full range of motion was observed in only 2 patients. The relationship between the type and the result of treatment was not observed in these eases.
